Missionaries From Uganda Visit Union Hall Baptist Church

On March 29 missionaries James and Cheryl Pridgen visited Union Hall Baptist Church in Liberty Hill, Texas. James Pridgen spoke during the Sunday School hour, 11 a.m. service and 6 p.m. service. He taught on Matthew 9:35-38 in the morning and in the evening reported their ministries’ progress in Uganda before preaching another sermon. Before and after the services Cheryl Pridgen stood by their display table set up in the church’s ministry room and spoke with the congregants. Their son, Joseph Pridgen, also came but assisted other teens teaching in the  children’s church.

The display table contained a cookbook of Ugandan cuisine and other items from the country. A large bulletin board contained many pictures of their congregants and staff members in Uganda. They also included photos of their different ministry events and family photos depicting them serving in different roles.

During Sunday School James Pridgen spoke of their prison ministry, Bible college, and new printing ministry that they use to print gospel tracts and books in the different tribal languages of Uganda, Congo and other countries. In the morning service he spoke on Palm Sunday and why Jesus came to die. He shared stories from Uganda and included some cultural details, such as how their church celebrated Palm Sunday. In his sermon he commented, "Christianity is not just about helping others. It's about sharing the gospel with those who are lost and dying.”

During the evening service, the Pridgens showed a slide presentation and then answered the congregants’ questions about Uganda and their ministry. Some of the topics included their daily life in Uganda and different elements of the culture. The missionaries spent the day giving updates on their ministries and preaching God’s Word to the church’s congregation.
