New Doughnut Factory Coming to Repton

After two years of bargaining with city officials, Holesome Donut Company chose to expand its company by opening its newest doughnut factory in Repton, Alabama and plan  to begin construction on March 31. It is set to be completed by Nov. 15 and ready to open at the beginning of next year.

The $3 million factory will provide 700 jobs and over 100 families will be brought in to work in the factory. Repton’s main industry plans to halve the company’s payroll at the beginning of next year, so the factory will provide job opportunities for any citizen who may become unemployed. The purpose of the plant is to make and package doughnuts that will be shipped all over Alabama.

Repton was selected because of its location, low interest rates and the promises of city officials for further development such as waste disposal facilities near the plant. Company president and Alabamian native Lonny Joe Underwood said that “We believe that the future of America, like its past, lies in small towns like this. We want to be an integral part of this community and make it just as prosperous as it should be.”

The Holesome Donut Company is based in Wilmington, Delaware and plans to open as many plants as possible in the Sunbelt. The purpose of its plants is to make and sell doughnuts. More information about the company and the Repton factory can be found at www.holesomedonuts.com.
